Welcome to Condo One, part of the unique urban living experience that is The Village of Cross Keys. Conceived and first developed in the 1960s by James Rouse, The Village of Cross Keys has a mixture of housing – townhomes, a high rise, detached houses, apartments — as well as a retail center, restaurants, a hotel, office buildings, tennis courts and swimming pools. Widely acclaimed as an urban visionary, Rouse went on to create the planned city of Columbia, Maryland as well as Harborplace, the centerpiece of Baltimore’s renaissance, and numerous other downtown Baltimore redevelopments.
Condo One comprises 98 units of two- and three-bedroom two-story townhomes on four courts: Hamlet Hill, Bouton Green, Olmsted Green and Palmer Green. Each unit has its own entrance and outdoor spaces–front and back–looking out over the rolling landscape of grass, flower beds and trees that was beautifully preserved by Rouse’s vision. Wildlife is common even in this city environment.
All Condo One residents have access to Cross Keys’ three outdoor pools, as well as the development’s tennis courts. Each unit has a reserved parking space for a car registered with Cross Keys. A clubhouse is available for rental.
Downtown Baltimore and its northern suburbs are easily accessible via the nearby Jones Falls Expressway, making everything from the Oriole Park at Camden Yards to Myerhoff Symphony Hall to hiking trails a quick drive away. Nearby is the Johns Hopkins University and the Baltimore Museum of Art as well as the eclectic selection of restaurants and shops of the Hampden, Woodberry and Roland Park neighborhoods.
Condo living means that monthly fees – determined by the size of the unit – cover most exterior repair and maintenance, landscaping of the acres of shared outdoor space, snow and leaf removal, road maintenance, trash pickup, and myriad other services, including a guarded gatehouse. In return, owners agree to maintain their outdoor spaces appropriately, obtain approval for any exterior work from the Condo Association and obey other regulations. A full list is available here.
Some of the shared tasks are the responsibility of Condo One which is governed by a board elected by residents. Condo One is one of nine condominium associations within The Village of Cross Keys that are part of the Cross Keys Management Corporation. This Corporation takes care of the areas used by the entire community, such as the pools, connecting roadways and the gatehouse. Many of these responsibilities are contracted to the Village Management Inc., a property management organization located on the grounds of The Village of Cross Keys that performs similar functions for many other communities in the Baltimore area.
